About Us
Hackberry Hill Farms
We have been in business for the last 24 years in some capacity. My
wife and I started our business House & Company, in 1982 it was a
small wood working shop in Dubois , IN. At the time we were new
parents, with a full blown recession going on we needed some way to
make ends meet. Our main activity at that time was building wooden
items for local craft shops. During the next three years we would move
from bulk orders to custom orders. This was a very exciting change, as it
gave me the opportunity to practice a wide range of skills and helped to
build on the skills I had acquired over the last three years.
After years as a custom builder. There came a time when our jobs and
quality took our business from small orders to larger residential jobs.
After years in the wood shop I decided that I would return to the
classroom in 1995 and complete my lifetime goal of becoming a teacher.
My education degree in Health Education was completed in 1998. Even
though I am teaching full time in the classroom, I have managed to keep
some portion of the business going since the first order was delivered in
1982.
Ebay and other facets of the Internet has allowed the business to
continue this business and has made it easy to reach places with our
products that I would have never thought possible. As we endeavor to
keep our farm and business moving in a positive direction so that we
would have something to pass on to our family we realized it was time to
get the family involved.
Last year when our son became interested in the farm and the family
business we ( O.P. and myself ) decided it was time for a new name to
cover all branches of the business. So, from September of 2006 House
& Company became Hackberry Hill Farms. So with the drive of a new
partner and a new management team we are set to make the new 24
years as good as the first 24. Now with a new business name and great
new ideas, this is the way that young minds change the course business
and tradition as they come to the front to help plan for the future.
We look forward to serving you in the future.
O.P. and Mark
